ABBOTT & COSTELLO

CHRONOLOGY

The Chase & Sanborn Program
with guest star W.C. Fields

Charlie has to apologize to Mr. Fields for playing a practical joke.

BUD: Hey, Costello, what is this?
LOU: I’m all dressed for my part in the picture.
BUD: What are you doing dressed up in a tuxedo? You’re going to be a big game hunter.
LOU: I thought you said a big dame hunter.
BUD: In this picture, Clark Gable is supposed to save Rita Hayworth from a savage, man-eating lion. But instead of Gable fighting the lion, a stunt man jumps in and takes his place.
LOU: That guy must be nuts. What’s his name?
BUD: Costello
LOU: Costello? That’s me!
BUD: Of course it’s you. You’re going to fight the lion for Gable.
LOU: And how much money do I get?
BUD: What do you care about the money? It’s the experience you need!
BUD: Rita Hayworth is getting ready to give her hero a great big kiss.
LOU: Oh, boy! I can hardly wait! How do I look?
BUD: What do you mean? Gable is the hero, you’re just a stunt man.
LOU: I know, but I killed the lion, didn’t I? Why can’t I kiss her?
BUD: You’re not being paid to kiss her.
LOU: What do I care about the money? It’s the experience I need!
